| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The 2020 academic year was the first year for this study, and our plan for the year was to prepare equipment and then complete a pilot study with participants. However, due to the COVID19 pandemic, we could only prepare equipment. Because the piloting relies on bringing in participants to my research laboratory, we have had to delay this part of the study unit the 2nd year of the project.
Therefore, for the first year we have purchased and set up the computer and eye tracking equipment that will be used in the study. We also tested the eye tracking machine ourselves while also using some example lesson materials that we have developed for this purpose. These lesson materials will be used in the piloting phase which should take place later this year if the pandemic is under control in Japan by that time, as well as the main study which will take place in the third years of the study.

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
As mentioned above, due to the COVID19 pandemic, we were not able to complete the piloting part of the project in the first year as it depended on bringing in participants to a research laboratory, we have had to delay this part of the study unit the 2nd year of the project.

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
For the second year ofd the study we plan to complete the lesson materials that will be used in the study and also to pilot them with participants. Then, in the third year of the study, we plan to carry out the main study with a larger number of participants.

| Causes of Carryover |
We will need money for a research assistant and also depending on the COVID19 situation, we plan to present the findings of our pilot study at various domestic and international conferences.
