Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In 2022 I could successfully completed and published the first book project even though it was delayed during the Covid situation. I also could continued with my research the cultural voices of elderly women in Japan, especially in how they express their limitations in social and cultural activities. This year I researched more Korean audiences and literary response to the literature of Japanese elderly lives and voice especially aged women's culture that had showsn much dynamic relationships comparing Korean elderly culture. And I had continuous meetings to prepare the 2nd book-project with scholars. However, while I could I successfully collaborated in 2020-2021, due to complications arising from the situation around COVID-19, the meetings and interviews were limited due to the vulnerability of the elderly people and scholars with whom I wanted to collaborate; however, in the meantime, I could expand my scholarly network to Asia where of research has been more active as of late; insofar as I am able to work with scholars in Indonesia that are more accessible by in-persion and also online means both. The Institue of Technology,Bandung where female scholars responsed and eagerly wanted to collaborate work with Japan and North America and we are currently working the international symposium in Japan coming year.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Based on the result of my own research, this year I was supposed to actively organize symposium with other scholars and proceed to publish more journals. However, it was a little behind to conduct around Covid-19 and I was not able to appropriately arrange further research such as interview with the NPO “The Women’s Association for a Better Aging Society” which was part of the motivation for my research. I was only able to visit them in Tokyo once and collect some testimonial data, however, due to their reaction to the concern with COVID-varietion, they asked me to postpone for the meetings coming year.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Considering slowly back to the New Normal life with Covid-endemic, I willingly adjust my reserach and collaborative work with more actively responding area such as indonesia and North America. Especially, in Indonesia where female scholars are very interested in the way that Japan deal with the social/cultural limitations faced by elderly women. Though done mainly through online meetings, it will eventually be connected to our next international symposium this year and collaboration could eventually expand to South East Asia. Thus, I am able to collaborate with scholars in Indonesia, alongside the NPOs in Japan, where I will proceed with the continuation of my work on elderly people’s interaction and communication, especially after the effects of the situation brought on by COVID-19.

Causes of Carryover |
Despite the alleviation of government restrictions on business travel, my counterparts in Japan and Korea remained adamant in their refusal to allow for the in-person meetings and interviews that I felt were imperative for the continuation of my research. This year I will arrange an in-person collaborative Symposium in either Japan or Indonesia, with scholars invited from the United States. For this plan, I need to travel to the United States and Indonesia to discuss plans and coordinate with collaborators and invitees. The incurred budget will be used for the above-mentioned travel, for organizing the symposium, and for editing fees for the presentation materials.
