Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to clarify the conditions under which savings function effectively to accelerate capital accumulation and to elucidate the externalities that small-scale finance exerts on society as a whole, based on research specifically focused on the effects of savings in microfinance. As planned, the surveys were conducted in parallel in rural areas of developing countries and Japan, a leading country in savings within Asia. For developing countries, two surveys were conducted in rural areas of Sri Lanka, yielding certain results. In rural Japan, we have organized and digitized ancient document catalogs and progressed with partial transcription. We have submitted peer-reviewed papers on rural Sri Lanka and made multiple presentations at academic conferences. From the above, we believe that sufficient research results have been achieved.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
