Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study was initiated to clarify the reasons why POAG patients discontinue eye drop treatment, to explore their vision using a eyetracking system, and to develop a nursing support program. The eye gaze measurement of normal subjects revealed that reaction time was slower in peripheral vision in both people in their 20s and those over 40, and that reaction time was slower in the lower part and oblique lower part of the visual field than in the upper part of the visual field. This tendency was particularly strong in those over 40 years of age, indicating that many areas of the entire visual field were not being gazed at.The reasons for discontinuation of eye drop therapy are complexly related to various background factors, patients' perceptions, life behavior, and human and material environment, suggesting the need to develop an assessment tool to help nurses assess and support patients.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
