Outline of Final Research Achievements

Open citation has attracted a lot of attention in foreign countries. This research project promotes open citation of different scholarly resources in the fields of humanities and social sciences through analysis of scholarly resources cited by journal articles, books, and other publications. In addition, we develop methods for extracting citation data. In particular, we focus on department bulletins published in institutional repositories to practice open citation. Specifically, we organize the references cited by department bulletin articles and their links, and registered them as metadata. Furthermore, in the process of developing citation data, we clarified the issues of developing citation data in the field of humanities and sociology, such as the diversity of languages, materials, and their granularity.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

学術論文の引用データは、研究評価、図書館の蔵書形成等様々な場面・目的で活用されてきた。しかし、それらの引用データは複雑なライセンスによって保護されており、自由にアクセスが難しかった。このことから、近年オープン・サイテーションが欧米を中心として推進されているが、特に人文社会学系分野では進展していない。これらの分野における研究の検証可能性の向上ならびに研究評価手法の検討のためにも、引用データを組織化・オープン化する枠組みは重要である。さらに、引用データによって学術資料間のつながりが可視化されることで、学術情報流通が促進されることが期待される。
