Research Abstract |
We have previously demonstrated that mRNA decay is initiated in couple with translation termination, where eukaryotic releasing factor eRF3 plays central roles. Here we showed that mRNA quality control mechanism eliminating aberrant transcripts lacking stop codon exists in mammalian cells, where another eRF3 family G protein Hbs1 and exosome complex play essential roles.
