バイオリファイナリー構築による環境負荷の低減

Research Abstract

本研究では、超臨界流体のもつ特異性を活用してバイオマス資源を液体有機溶媒と超(亜)臨界状態で反応させることで新規な有用化学物質や有用バイオ材料、さらにはバイオ燃料などを創製するバイオリファイナリー化技術の開発を試みている。その試みの一つとして、分類学上異なる種々のバイオマスの化学組成を明らかにした上で、平成22年度には、フェノールと木質バイオマス(ブナ)を種々の亜臨界条件にて化学反応させ、かさ高く取り扱いにくい木質バイオマスを、取り扱いやすくて貯蔵しやすい有用な液化物に変換する最適処理条件を見い出した。そこで本年度(平成23年度)は、フェノール化による木粉の液化をさらに向上させるため、亜臨界フェノールへの水の添加量に対する液化率の変化と処理条件との関連について詳細な検討を行った。その結果、270℃/3.1MPaで水:フェノール重量比25:75が最も液化に適していることを明らかにした。続いて、その他のフェノール類であるカテコール、2,4-ジメチルフェノール、アニソール、m-クレゾールなどについても同様の検討を行った。その結果、270℃/0.8-1.2MPa/30minの亜臨界処理条件でいずれの溶媒の場合もセルロースの液化は顕著でないものの、リグニン及びへミセルロースの液化は効果的で、中でもカテコールが液化溶媒として最も適切であることを明らかにした。また液体バイオマスである油脂類について、本年度も引き続き、超臨界アルキルエステルや超臨界炭酸ジアルキル処理することで、バイオディーゼル(脂肪酸アルキルエステル)や有用な化学物質(トリアシン、グリセロールカーボネートなど)への変換の最適処理条件を明らかにした。今後もこの液化物をベースとした新規のバイオケミカルスの創製について検討を継続していく予定である。
