Research Abstract |
In this study, I collected many examples of the transitive sentences from many colloquial expression documents and some literary documents such as some novels, newspapers, and advertisements, and considered the syntax and semantics of four kinds of sentence type that have the following special characteristics. (1) the sentences using 'o' resembling connective particle, (2) the sentences using 'o' which expresses a meaning of situation, (3) the sentences using 'nani-o' which expresses a meaning to blame somebody, and (4) the sentences using 'nani-ga' that resembled (3): the sentences using 'nani-o'. As a result, it was revealed that the analogy acted for the interpretation of those sentences. The meanings of those sentences are changed and supplemented creatively, and interpreted as a result of the mapping from the meanings of the base construction. Particularly, it became clear that the base transitive constructions that (1)-(3) are based are used frequently, and have the typical transitive meaning. Finally it was revealed that "a sentence construction" played an important role in real language use.
