Research Abstract |
In Late Edo-Period, Ueda-Chiisagata Area in Shinano Province(Nagano Prefecture) was a producing center of raw silk. Ueda Raw Silk was used to be send to Maebashi-Town in Kozuke Province(Gunma Prefecture), transacted at the market there, and made Silk Cloth by Kiryu Textile Manufactures. But, in Meiji-Period, this area took more time than one expected to develop the modern Reeling Industry. Producing raw silk there depended on a large number of small farmers who did silkworm raising and silk reeling, and the funds of Ueda-Town Silk Merchants were little.
