Research Abstract |
Lykourgos, one of the Attic ten orators, was the leading politician of the late 4^<th> century B. C. E. In this project, public and private distinction in his polis image was analyzed mainly through(1) his use of eiisangeliai(public prosecutions) against private citizens, and(2) The relationship of public punishment and personal vengeance in his legal thought. It has been shown that in his political vision of citizenry, quiet citizens were incorporated in the framework of reciprocity within the polis community.
