Research Abstract |
The activities for the charity and donation deeply concern all the people in a given society, but these activities are incomprehensible, because they don’t seek profit, but work for the public good. How should we understand the charity and donation activities from the Mauss’s “reciprocity” framework? The charity activities are brisk in Singapore, which charitable bases are not only religious groups but a great variety of groups. The neighboring countries are also interested in the situation of Singapore. I investigated into their view how they look at it. Besides I examined the paradigm shift about the charity, which the National Kidney Foundation saga was how it all started.
