Research Abstract |
The temporality in thenegotiation of government formation is determined according to(1) the power and behavior of the head of the state and(2) degree of fragmentation in the party system. To what extent a new prime minister can present concrete policy proposals which were the focal questions in the process of the negotiation of government formation creates the image of a new prime minister and determines his/her fate. Former Belgian Prime Minister, Yves Leterme(from March 2008) had an image of agitator while in power, and his administration was consequently short-lived.
