Research Abstract |
We performed pulsatile extracorporeal circulation to prevent spinal cord injury(paraplegia) during experimental thoracoabdominal aortic surgery using canine model. After segmental clamping of descending and abdominal aorta, motor-evoked potentials decreased significantly. Pulsatile partial extracorporeal circulation could improve collateral blood flow of spinal cord and amplitudes of motor-evoked potentials compared with non-pulsatile partial extracorporeal circulation
