Research Abstract

本研究の目的は、Si-APDに適合した長波長発光シンチレータの開発である。長波長発光シンチレータとしてはCe:LuAGを選択し、これを従来の単結晶から透明セラミックス化を図ることで、賦活剤濃度を増し、発光量を増加させるという手法を用いた。今年度の成果としては、透明セラミックスCe:LuAGシンチレータの合成条件を確立し、Ce 0.2%(単結晶と同等)、0.5%、1%、2%添加サンプルを作製した。これらを5×5×1mmという、Si-APDに適合する大きさに加工して実際にアセンブリしたのちに^<137>Csを照射する実験を行った。その結果、チョクラルスキー法を用いて作製した単結晶Ce:LuAGに比べて、0.5% Ce添加透明セラミックスは高い発光量を示した。単結晶Ce:LuAGはおおよそ10000ph/MeV程度の発光量と考えられているが、当該セラミックスは約16000ph/MeVという値が得られた。研究当初の目標は20000ph/MeV以上の発光量であるが、現段階ではCe濃度を大雑把に変えただけであるため、当初目標は達成可能であるとの感触を得た。詳細は省くが、本研究を行う過程でSEMによる画像解析や光物性評価も行い、Ceが粒界近傍に堆積するなど副次的な興味深い結果も得られた。次年度では、より詳細なCe濃度を変化させ、特性を最適化させることで研究目標を達成したいと考えている。
