Research Abstract |
Recently, improved detection method of the de-galactosylated IgAl by enzymatic removal of sialic acid was developed and applied for the detection of the aberrant IgAl (algA) in IgA nephropathy. The removal of sialic acid from serum proteins was carried out by weak acid treatment. Consequently, sensitivity of the detection of a1gA was increased about hundred times. A tonsil may produce a1gA1 in serum because of overproduction of tonsillar algAl. Complete removal of sialic acid, did not increase sensitivity any more. Polymerization of algA must be most important factor for the sensitive detection of aIgA
