Outline of Final Research Achievements

Through comparative research, the study sought to explore how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the work and livelihoods of migrant workers, many of whom are engaged in essential work. Specifically, the research project focused on the Philippines, which has sent many international migrants to different countries since the 1970s, to examine and compare how migrant workers with common roots but different migration routes experienced the pandemic. The results showed that the interaction between the way in which migrant workers were incorporated into the destination country and the infectious disease control measures of the destination country had shaped the multifaceted pandemic experiences of these migrant workers.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
