Electrochemistry at the Non-aqueous Liquid-Liquid Interface between Ionic Liquids and Oils: Scientific Principle Construction and Nanomaterial Fabrication

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

新たな非水液液界面電気化学反応場の展開を目的として、Cl-を構成アニオンとする親水性イオン液体(IL)を用い、IL|油(O)界面における基板フリー・テンプレートフリーな卑金属の還元析出を行った。
まずは概念実証のために、析出の容易なAuから始めた。IL|O界面においてAuCl_4^-のILからOへの界面イオン移動(IT)を電気化学計測することができた。IL中のAuCl_4^-とO中の還元剤とのあいだの界面電子移動(ET)も、クローズドバイポラー電極により電気化学測定できた。これらにより、IL|O界面の電気化学反応場としての利用可能性を示した。
電位窓内でのITとETのカップリングにより電気的中性を保ちながら自発的に析出反応が起こることが示された。IL|O界面を反応場としてAuの還元析出を行い、樹枝状のAuナノ構造が得られた。
続いて、Znの還元析出を行った。IL中のZnCl_4^2-とO中のiBu_2AlHはIL|O界面で界面電気化学反応し、ET・ITカップリングによりIL|O界面とOバルク中において自発的にZnが析出した。IL|O界面において析出したZnは一次元ナノ構造であった。一方、Oバルク中で析出したZnは異方性のない凝集体であった。Oバルク中での析出は、ZnCl_4^2-がETの生成物であるiBu_2AlHと反応し複合錯体となるITが起きることでZnの還元析出が起きたためと考えられる。IL中のZnCl_4^2-濃度の減少によりバルク析出を抑制できた。
