Outline of Final Research Achievements

We developed position-sensitive transition-edge sensor (TES) microcalorimeters (PoSTs) for gamma-rays. To accommodate larger absorbers, We improved the membrane structure to support large absorbers and verified the operation using Co-60 and Cs-137 sources. We performed simulations considering multiple scattering and noise to demonstrate that a position resolution of 0.4 mm can be achieved with a 20 mm-long PoST.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
