Outline of Final Research Achievements

We were able to reveal the contents of the Archaeological collection collected by Takeka Negishi, the 12th head of the Negishi family, a prominent family in Kumagaya, Saitama Prefecture. Furthermore, it is important to note that we were able to clarify the reality of the network of Antiquarians urrounding him. The discovery of “Hien Kozufu,” a collection of illustrations recorded by Takeka Negishi himself, has made comparative research possible, which is a significant achievement. It is also important to note that we were able to document in detail the current state of the antiquities display area, Takeka Negishi's collection room, which was built in the Meiji 20s and remains in the Negishi family. In the final year of the project, Treasures of the Negishi Family, a prominent family in Northern Musashi” was held at Kokugakuin University Museum, and the results were made public.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は、近代博物館揺籃期において博物館創設、文化財行政制度の構築に多大なる影響を及ぼした幕末維新期からの好古家の功績を考究することを目的としている。その一人である根岸武香の好古家としての実態を、彼が残した実物資料によって解明できた点は学術的に重要な成果と言える。特に『榧園好古図譜』を発見し、実物資料との比較検討が可能となった点は、今後の研究に裨益する重要なものとなっている。また、明治20年代の個人コレクションの公開施設である「古器物陳列場」の３D計測による詳細な記録は、日本博物館史に新たな資料を提供できた。
