Outline of Final Research Achievements

As a result of this study, I explored new forms of economic sanctions in a world where the existing global order had collapsed following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. Specifically, the study highlighted the difficulty of using economic sanctions to alter a nation’s foreign policy, demonstrating that such measures failed to stop Russia's aggression.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

研究成果の学術意義としては、キューバ制裁や北朝鮮制裁に関して言われてきた、「経済制裁の限界」を改めて示すことができた。すなわち、2014年のクリミア半島のロシアによる併合によって、西側諸国は経済制裁をロシアに課したが、それがウクライナに対するロシアの全面的侵攻を阻止することができなかった、ということである。
この点に関しては経済制裁のみならず、国際機構の機能の限界なども合わせて複合的、多角的に分析を実施することとなった。
