Outline of Final Research Achievements

The series of studies expanded quantitative model that describes the adaptation to the Potentially Traumatic Events (PTEs) to the everyday experiences of working individuals. In an intervention experiment conducted in Fiscal Year 2022, participants showed low metacognition regarding memory tasks simulating work and tended to assign meaning to simple tasks that are generally considered to have little academic significance. The findings were presented at an academic conference in the U.S. in Fiscal Year 2023 and received high acclaim. In Fiscal Year 2024, further research suggested that depending on individual psychological traits, simple tasks could have adverse effects, and forced meaning-making might lower performance. On the other hand, maintaining a positive mindset was found to enhance sensitivity to positive experiences. These results highlight the importance of tailoring interventions to individual and situational characteristics.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
