Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this research, a value of information based data transport system using information-centric networking (ICN) approach has been investigated. First, an effective and efficient network architecture that combines both ICN and quantum key distribution network has been proposed in order to deliver important data securely. Second, a network communication protocol that enables applications to flexibly utilize in-network functions such as video compression and in-network caching has been developed. Furthermore, a cache-friendly transport to store more popular data effectively has also been proposed and evaluated.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

我が国が目指すSociety 5.0では、多様なアプリケーションや通信サービスの要求を満たす柔軟なネットワーク技術が重要であると同時に、急増する通信トラフィックをどのように対処するかといった課題がある。本研究では、従来のIPベース（ロケーションベース）通信ではなく、情報ベースの通信を行う情報指向型ネットワーク技術を応用することで、低遅延通信や安全性などのアプリケーション要求を考慮するとともに、通信量削減を図るトランスポート方式の効果を示した。この成果と知見により、学術的には情報指向型通信の更なる発展性と高度化が見込まれ、社会的には将来の新たな通信サービスへの適用が期待できる。
