Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では小規模金採掘(ASGM)実施国を介した不適切な水銀貿易の検出・判定手法を開発した。2022年度の成果を以下に示す。
１）イベント：環境省および水俣条約事務局の協力のもと、Mercury Legacy in Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining（福岡国際会議場+Zoom）を開催した。国際連合（水銀に関する水俣条約事務局の行政官）、環境省、チリ、カナダからの有識者を含め15名の発表者のほか、TAUWやEPA(アメリカ合衆国環境保護庁)、日本国内等から計38名が視聴参加し、水銀の使用・貿易、そして環境汚染等の課題に関する活発な情報交換が行われた。会議を通じて得られた知見を、条約事務局等で作成を進める報告書に提供することができた。
２）成果発信：手法の開発、実際の水銀貿易データへの開発手法の適用、および前述の会議で得られた知見について、国際学会発表(3件)と国際学術論文誌(2報)へ成果を公表した。1報はマテリアルフロー分析のトップジャーナルであるResources, Conservation & Recycling誌に掲載された。研究計画を大きく超えた点として、一連の成果を水銀に関する水俣条約事務局および環境省に提供することができた。
３）多媒体での発信：研究成果発信用のコンテンツとして、サイエンスアニメーションを活用した動画やインフォグラフィックスを作成した。これらを活用することで、効果的且つ効率的な情報発信を実現することができた。
本研究を通じて、当初の目的であったASGM実施国を介した不適切な水銀貿易の検出・判定手法を開発し、実証分析のデータ整備を行うことが出来た。加えて、当初の目標を超える成果として、水俣条約事務局や環境省への情報提供を果たすとともに、主催した国際会議および成果発信用コンテンツを通じて国際社会への情報発信を達成した。
