Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
本年度も昨年度に引き続き3種の研究内容を展開した。(1)地球外試料中のシリカ鉱物の鉱物分析、(2)シリカ鉱物を含む岩石の加熱・冷却実験、(3)トリディマイトのX線回折実験である。 (1)主に月隕石と火星隕石試料中に含まれるシリカ鉱物に注目してEPMAによる鉱物分析、ラマン分光による相同定を継続して行った。月隕石は、Y983885, Dhofar 489, NWA 14280, 13408, 8687, 14526, 6950, Hassi Touil 001, Gadamis 003, MIL 05035であり、火星隕石は、NWA 14127, 13227, 13250, 13366, 13369, 13669, 12241, Asuka 12325, Nakhlaであった。いずれの試料も少量のシリカ鉱物が見出され、ほとんどの試料が衝撃変成作用によりガラス化しているが、トリディマイトとコーサイトも検出できた。 (2)地球外試料に玄武岩的なものが多いことを考慮して、1気圧酸素雰囲気制御電気炉で、地球の玄武岩の加熱実験(1100-1300度で1時間加熱して急冷)を試みた。ただし、シリカ鉱物はほとんど出発物質に含まれないこと、加熱温度が高いことなどからより低温での再実験が必要であった。トリディマイトの加熱・冷却実験については、真空炉を用いての実験を実施しているが、装置の立ち上げに時間がかかり、まだ有用な結果が得られていない。 (3)地球試料のトリディマイトのX線回折実験については、神奈川県湯河原産以外のものをいくつか実験したが、結果的には、湯河原産と同様の「隕石型」と考えられる回折結果となり、これまで言われているような「地球型」は明確には見出すことができなかった。可能性としては、実際は「地球型」と「隕石型」の差はなく、結晶度の違いの問題だけとも考えられる示唆が得られた。
