Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the fiscal year 2022, our research focus was mainly on constructing a regional transport model and an energy system model using China's 31 provinces as a case study. The transport model was developed to offer spatially flexible and temporally dynamic simulations of transport demand and modal choices for the transport sector, while the energy system model was developed to provide a bottom-up technology detailed recursive dynamic optimization model with a detailed technology selection framework. We collected data related to regional transportation and energy system to build the models. On the one hand, historical data on socioeconomic factors such as GDP, population, transport infrastructure supply, land use, transport cost, and transport demand were collected to estimate the parameters of the transport model for projecting the future passenger and freight transport demand. On the other hand, a detailed technology database, which includes information on the transportation device such as lifetime, initial costs, operation and maintenance costs, energy efficiency, and emission factors, was built for energy system modeling.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Due to the pandemic, the planned overseas travel has been postponed. Additionally, as I changed jobs in September 2022, the work requirements of my new position have caused changes to my original continuous plans for traveling abroad. Consequently, the scheduled research progress for 2022 has been slightly delayed and the overseas trips will be spread out over the next few years.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
I plan to utilize several months of free time outside the job requirements of my new position over the next two to three years to engage in overseas travels and collaborative research. The main focus will be on the construction and coupling of integrated assessment models, and to explore low-carbon transport strategies based on real-world conditions.
