Research Abstract

前年度に引き続き両面加熱ダイヤモンドアンビルを用い、より高い圧力条件180GPaでのFe-Fe3S系の融点を決定した。また、Fe3Cにおいては200GPa, 3000K以上の条件でFe3C相が安定であることを明らかにした。Fe-Si-S系の融解実験を135GPa迄の条件で行い、金属鉄合金を共存するメルトの組成を分析し、固体鉄には珪素が濃集し液体には硫黄が濃集することを明らかにした。この結果から、内核は珪素に富み外核は硫黄に富むことを世界に先駆けて明らかにした。
次に、SPring8のBL10XUにおいて、粉末X線解析と同時にメスバウア分光を行う為の技術開発はほぼ終わり、100GPaまでの条件において数時間で良好なメスバウアスペクトルを取得することに成功し実験はルーチンで行えるステージに達し、Fe3+を含むMg-ぺロブスカイトについて、高圧下でメスバウアスペクトルを測定した。ぺロブスカイトのAサイトに存在するFe3+およびFe2+は、86GPaまでの条件で共に高スピン条件にあることを明らかにした。現在、FeO及びマグネシオブスタイトの測定を150GPa程度まで測定を行った。
更に、SPring8のBL35XUにおいてX線非弾性散乱法によって金属鉄hcp-Feの音速を核の内部の圧力である180 GPaを超える超高圧において測定した。これに加え、ポータブルレーザーシステムの光学系を確立し、50-100 GPaにおいて、レーザー加熱による3000 Kを超える高温での音速測定に成功した。またBL22XUでは、鉄-硫黄系メルトの音速を4-6GPaの条件で測定した。そして、核マントル境界での重いマグマを模擬したケイ酸塩ガラスの音速測定を行い、ガラス及びマグマの高圧での相転移可能性を探索した。これらの成果は、世界に先駆けて実現したものであり、地球深部研究において世界最先端を開くものである。

Reason

平成24年度の課題については、Fe金属合金と金属鉄メルト間のSiとSの元素分配、高圧下でのメスバウア分光測定とX線回折法の同光学系での測定を可能にしたこと、X線非弾性散乱法によって50-100GPaで3000K以上での音速測定を可能にしたこと、また、鉄硫黄系液体の音速の測定に成功したことなど24年度に課題を十分に達成することができた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

本特別推進研究もあと2年となる。年度内に予定の研究開発を完成し実験データを得るために、以下の2点について、研究組織・研究体制を強化する計画である。第一に、X線非弾性散乱法によって、核の条件で3000Kを超える条件での鉄の音速測定を世界に先駆けて成功させ、内核の構造と温度条件が議論できる実験データを確実に得るために、X線非弾性散乱法の専門家であり、ダイヤモンドアンビル高圧装置によるポータブル両面レーザー加熱システムの開発に携わってきた優れた若手研究者（福井裕史博士）を新たに研究分担者に加えた。さらに、この研究において最優先の課題である超高圧条件での固体鉄合金と金属液体の間の元素分配の研究を確実に行うために分析電子顕微鏡による元素分析、透過電子顕微鏡による鉱物組織観察の専門家である優れた若手研究者（宮原正明博士）をあらたに分担者に加えた。これによって、本研究のもっとも重要な課題である核の条件での鉄の音速測定および核の条件での固体鉄合金と液体金属の元素分配の測定を成功させることができる。そして、内核と外核の化学組成と温度構造の新たなモデルを提案することが可能になる。
