Research Abstract

単層カーボンナノチューブ(SWNT)の合成技術およびその応用技術のさらに開発を進めた.合成については特に水平配向成長に着目し,その合成条件(圧力や温度)が与えるSWNTの配向性や配向時の面密度への影響について詳細に分析を行った.成長と配向密度にはトレイドオフの関係があることが分かり,低圧で合成することにより成長量は減少するが,高密度の配向SWNTを得ることができた.さらに,水平配向SWNTから金属性SWNTのみを選択的に除去することで,半導体性SWNTのみを残す技術を開発した.この技術によりSWNTをチャネルとする高性能な電界効果型トランジスタへの応用が期待される.
エネルギー応用にむけては,半導体や金属性のみを分離・精製したSWNTを用いることで,色素増感型太陽電池の対への応用だけでなく光電極への応用を試みた.また,シリコンとSWNTのヘテロ接合型太陽電池の開発を進めた.様々な種類やマクロスケールでの構造を持つSWNTサンプルを用いることでの性能への影響を調べ,大気中でも安定した性能の高い太陽電池を作製することに成功した.
また,時間領域サーモリフレクタンス法による界面熱抵抗の評価を行った.SWNTと金属の界面を模擬したグラファイト-金属界面の分析を進めた.

Reason

単層カーボンナノチューブの合成技術,およびデバイス作製に必要な技術の開発は順調に進められている.
また,当初の予定にはなかった新たなタイプのSWNT太陽電池が実現し,非常に高性能な太陽電池性能が得られている.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

これまでに得られたSWNT合成技術(直径・物性・配向性制御など)を踏まえ,エネルギーデバイスへの応用を進めていく.SWNTトランジスタ応用のために,半導体性SWNTのみを選択的に除去する技術の開発およびそのメカニズムを検討を進める.また,SWNTの太陽電池応用に向けては,色素増感型太陽電池,ヘテロ接合型太陽電池に加え,新たなタイプの太陽電池への応用も検討していく.現状において,研究計画の変更や遂行上の問題はないと考える.
