単層カーボンナノチューブの構造制御合成とエネルギーデバイス応用

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

単層カーボンナノチューブの合成技術においては,タングステン‐コバルト合金触媒や銅‐コバルト合金触媒に着目し,さらに合成条件を慎重に吟味することで,非常に直径の細い単層カーボンナノチューブを合成することに成功した.合成条件としては,低圧力かつ低温(500度程度)にすることで,触媒金属が拡散・凝集して大きくなることを防いた.直径の細い単層カーボンナノチューブ合成技術は,取り得る構造が限られてくることから,カイラリティ制御合成に向けた重要な知見となる.
また,単層カーボンナノチューブにおける半導体・金属による電気伝導性による分離・精製技術においては,水晶基板上に水平配向成長させたカーボンナノチューブに対し,ポリマー等をコーティングした後,通電加熱する方法を用い,金属的なカーボンナノチューブのみを焼失させる技術の開発に成功した.ポリマーをコーティングしない場合は,数100 nm程度が燃えるだけだが,コーティングすることで数μmもの非常に長い範囲に渡って燃えることが明らかになった.この技術は,今後の高性能なトランジスタ作製に有効である.
また,分子動力学シミュレーションおよびフェムト秒パルスレーザを用いた時間領域サーモリフレクタンス法を用いて,分子スケールでのナノ材料の熱散逸機構,特にその非フーリエ的熱伝導に着目した検証を行った.
更に,カーボンナノチューブのエネルギーデバイス応用として,ペロブスカイト型太陽電池へカーボンナノチューブ応用を行った.ここでは正孔輸送層としてカーボンナノチューブを用い,太陽電池を作製し,およそ10%の効率を示す太陽電池を得ることに成功した.このことは,カーボンナノチューブが優れた正孔輸送特性(または電子のブロッキング特性)を有することを示唆しており,今後の単層カーボンナノチューブの応用への展開が期待できる.
