Research Abstract

当研究課題の目的は，（１）スラブ起源流体によるマントルウェッジの変形変成作用である蛇紋岩化のプロセスを結晶構造レベルから明らかにすること，（２）蛇紋岩化がマントルの地震波速度（観測可能物性）およびレオロジー（プロセス支配物性）に与える影響を明らかにすること，（３）これまでに進めてきたカンラン岩の研究と総合して，マントルウェッジの流動・変成過程を明らかにすることである．当研究課題によって，研究代表者の実験室に新しい岩石中の鉱物の結晶方位解析をするための装置SEM-EBSD-EDSを導入できた．すでに成果としてMichibayashi & Oohara (2013, EPSL)，Michibayashi at al. (2012, Tectonophycis)やNishii et al. (2011, JSG)を報告している．その他，研究分担者も弾性波解析(Watanabe et al., 2011)や蛇紋岩の実験(Katayama et al., 2011 Geology, 2012 Nature Geoscience)など順調に成果を出すことができた．また最終年度であったが，2013年度のトンガ海溝調査のための旅費を支出し，これまで未知であったホライゾン海淵の地形構造を明らかにするとともに5000ｍよりも浅い陸側斜面に新鮮なかんらん岩が存在することを発見した．
