Research Abstract

本課題の研究目的は、遷移金属酸化物を主な対象として、①超常環境下における物質探索、②構造、物性評価と新現象の探索、の2つを実施して、新規物質や新現象・新機能の探索・開発を行うことである。H24年度の主要な研究成果の概略を以下に示す。
[1]カゴメ格子反強磁性体Volborthite (Cu3V2O7(OH)2・2H2O)の単結晶育成に成功し、新しい物理現象「軌道スイッチング」を発見した。[2]Vesignieite (BaCu3V2O8(OH)2)の新しい相(多形)の単結晶を合成発見し、構造歪みのない完全カゴメ格子を有することを見いだした。[3]新規三角格子反強磁性体Ag2CrO2 (S=3/2)の磁気構造を中性子回折により決定した。[4]前年度発見したNaCr2O4の新規巨大磁気抵抗効果について調べた。磁気相図、53Cr核NMR測定などによりスピンフラストレーションと高酸化数状態のCr4+によってもたらされる酸素上のホールが巨大磁気抵抗効果発現の鍵になっていることを見いだした。[5]ペロブスカイト型オスミウム酸化物を中性子線回折法とX線共鳴磁気散乱法によって解析し、金属絶縁体転移と磁気秩序の発達の強い相関を明らかにした。この新物質がスレーター転移の最も優れたモデル物質であることを示した。[6]新物質ScCrO3とInCrO3の合成に成功し、それらの結晶構造と電磁気性質を明らかにした。[7]新物質BiPd2O4とPbPd2O4の合成に成功し、それらの結晶構造と電磁気性質を明らかにした。[8]CdRh2O4の新規高圧相の合成に成功し、その結晶構造と物性の変化を明らかにした。[9]これらの新規合成物質の電子構造を第一原理計算に基づいて解析した。実験結果と比較することによって、その電子構造を明らかにした。
