| Research Abstract |
The school hymns and other official songs composed by those affiliated with the Tokyo Academy of Music, as well as statues/memorials now famous as tourist spots (such as the statues of Masashige Kusunoki and Takamori Saigo) are instances that illustrate works commissioned by the government, Imperial House, plutocracy, etc. to the Tokyo Academies of Music and of Fine Arts in the Meiji and Showa eras. These commissions reflect the Academies’ relations to the government as well as the society of modern Japan and thus provide us with keys to reading the social, cultural, and political trajectories of modern Japan. The examination and investigation we conducted on internal documents and the actual works commissioned, etc. as well as our interviews with commissioners, have revealed that, while commissions in both fields equally indicate their close proximity to policies on general education in the arts and the modernization of the state, they each were conducted on different intentions and scopes, thus resulting in different impacts on the society.

[Remarks] 依嘱作曲に関する中間発表:平成23年9月2～4日の文化祭期間中、大学史史料室内の展示により依嘱の一覧表、内地・外地を含む都府県別依嘱件数など成果の一部を公開し、山田耕筰作曲の手書き楽譜も展示した。来場者は約300人であった。

[Remarks] 受託作の研究成果の一部を展示:平成24年4月5日～6月24日に東京藝術大学大学美術館にて大学所蔵品を紹介する「芸大コレクション展」の1コーナーで「特集陳列(2)藝大の創成期と依嘱事業」に出展した。展示内容は依嘱製作木型、文書資料、依嘱作曲の楽譜、依嘱元と東京音楽学校の往復文書、歌詞など。音楽側のモニター画面による依嘱作曲の概要紹介、iPadコンテンツによる依嘱作曲の復元演奏録音音源の再生など。コレクション展のみの入場者は6,127名、途中から同時開催された高橋由一展の入場者と合わせると(入場券は館内共通)80,233名であった。
