Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The aim of this project is to re-evaluate the previous use of methods in sociological research in Japan, and to propose a new methodological framework. The traditional approach to sociological research in Japan often merely involved compiling a body of theoretical knowledge concerning modern society, whilst the role of actual empirical observation (for example through fieldwork and questionnaire surveys etc.) was usually neglected. This study proposes the application of a broader theoretical framework, which also includes current issues in sociological research (for example referencing concepts such as "materiality," "space," "media" etc.). Furthermore, it advocates the development of a practical methodological framework, for example using digitalization, statistics and visual aids in processing and representing data. These frameworks will contribute to both research and educational methods.
