Research Abstract |
Self-harm is one of the strongest predictors of death by suicide in adolescence. Recent research indicate that initial Non-Suicidal Self Injury (NSSI) history predicted future suicide attempts in depressed youths. We conducted a randomized controlled trial to evaluate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) for Japanese adolescent female with NSSI. Three girls received EMDR and thirteen received IPT until now.
