Research Abstract

The first process of manufacturing saltpeter, that is, nitrate is the same way to produce compost. The way how to manufacture saltpeter has been acquired through the piled knowledge by long-term agricultural experiences. It is supposed to have been a common sense. The second process of extracting potassium nitrate from saltpeter was found to be much harder than expected. It was found to be clear that much of ash containing potassium was needed to extract potassium nitrate from saltpeter. It concluded that artificial saltpeter had been closely related with agriculture.
