Research Abstract |
This research program aimed at providing a new paradigm for the philosophical theory of action, epistemology and the philosophy of language by way of reconsidering the practical knowledge ("phronesis"), which Aristotle distinguished from the discursive-theoretical knowledge ("episteme" in a narrow sense) and characterized as a distinctively human sort of knowledge. The research has made it clear that this philosophical investigation itself, and the language too in which it is to be stated, cannot be free from the model of phronesis. It follows that even the philosophical language cannot describe what we are doing from a transcendent standpoint and that it does not talk something in the same way as our ordinary language does.
