曲面型ナノ構造物性における幾何曲率効果の機構解明と物性推算コード開発

Research Abstract

「形が物性を支配する」 ― 本課題の目的は、曲面型ナノ構造が普遍的に示す特異物性の発現機構、および系の曲面形状と特異物性との相関関係を、大規模数値シミュレーションを通して解明することである。幾何学的な捩れや曲がりを伴う曲面型ナノ構造の内部では、系全体の幾何形状が荷電キャリアに有効電磁場作用を供する。特に低次元系では素励起間の相互作用効果が顕著になるため、幾何曲率に伴う有効場が実際の量子状態にどのような影響を与えるか自明でない。
そこで本年度の研究では、ガウス曲率に依存するスカラー場と捩率に依存するベクトル場を連続体近似に基づいて定式化し、これらの有効場と一粒子励起スペクトルならびに量子伝導度との相関関係を定量的に調べた。軸方向に周期的な幾何凹凸を示す鎖状フラーレン重合体については、その励起スペクトルに現れる朝永Luttinger指数の値が、凹凸度合いに対して鋭敏かつ単調に依存するという理論予測を実験的に初めて検証した。また静水圧下で発現する波状断面型カーボンナノチューブについては、その断面変形モードの振幅増幅に伴い電子エネルギーバンドギャップがリエントラント的な開閉を示すことが明らかとなった。さらに絡み目型のナノリング構造について、外部磁場印加により生じる永久電流・量子位相付加の振る舞いを理論的に予測した。これらの成果は、ナノ炭素材料を基盤素材とする新規機能性材料のデザインに新しい知見をもたらすものである。
