Research Abstract |
Purpose The purpose of this study is to develop a simulation program to improve clinical judgment ability. Methods The participants of this study were student midwives, clinical instructors and midwifery teachers. Questionnaire or semi-structured interviews were conducted to clarify both the difficulty in midwifery training and the points to be reinforced before the training. We made a eighteen minutes film of a primipara. The simulation program with this film was evaluated through a questionary to the student midwives after practice. Results All the nine midwifery students responded that this simulation program was useful in terms of clinical judgment of mother's wellness, progression of delivery, prediction of delivery process and suitable care for mother families. Conclusion These results suggest that our simulation program with the film enhances the clinical judgment in delivery by enabling a real-time assessment and a midwifery care estimate through imaging a parturient.
