Outline of Final Research Achievements

With the outbreak of the Covid19 virus, “online classes” were introduced. As a result, for classroom lectures, content was created with almost the same level of satisfaction as face-to-face. On the other hand, experimental practice was rated lower than face-to-face. To solve this problem, we improved the quality of remote experiments.
The contents of experiments that have been conducted in-person were changed so that they can be conducted remotely. The experiments themselves were found to be as easy to conduct as face-to-face experiments. The participants were generally satisfied with the results. On the other hand, it was suggested that the effectiveness of the education could vary greatly depending on the communication equipment and devices. In the future, by combining the latest VR system and ICT technology, we will develop a remote examination training system that can provide educational effects equivalent or superior to face-to-face education, even when conducted online.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究の目的は、従来、日本で高く評価されてきた対面形式の共同作業による学生実験・実習と、昨年来利用されており、対面にはない有効性(いつでもどこでも何度でも受講可能)を持つ遠隔授業の長所を併せ持つ、新しい遠隔学生実験システムを開発し、より効果的な実験実習を行うことである。本研究で開発するのは、実際の学生実験用の機器を、ICTを用いて遠隔操作できる様に改造し、様々な場所から複数の学生が参加できる学生実験システムを開発することである。これまで対面実験で利用され、就職後の企業でも実在する大型実験装置を利用することによって、対面授業で涵養される感覚的な装置取扱技術の取得が可能となる。
