| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
As mentioned earlier, this study was initially planned to target participants of community-based general health checkups. However, due to a decrease in the number of eligible community residents and municipal employees, as well as the aging population, it was deemed difficult to conduct effective measurements. Therefore, the study population was changed to municipal employees. Most of the targeted municipal employees reside in the municipalities they work for or in neighboring areas. Consequently, this study maintains continuity with previous research conducted by the principal investigator, allowing for longitudinal tracking. Although the present results are interim, after adjusting for age, BMI, and physical activity, comparisons among groups divided by energy intake showed a tendency for higher values in several indicators in the high energy intake group. Associations with LDL cholesterol are also currently under investigation.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
認知症対策は喫緊の課題であり、発症予防対策が重要である。近年認知症の脳内炎症としての側面が報告され、他の脳内炎症に起因する疾患との近縁性が注目されている。本研究では測定対象を地域自治体の職員としたが、対象となる自治体職員は多くが所属自治体およびその近隣に在住している。そのため研究者代表者が先行して実施してきた研究と今回の研究は継続的視点があり追跡的把握が可能となった。本研究では年齢、BMI、身体活動についての調整を行い、摂取エネルギーで分割した群を比較すると、摂取エネルギーが高い群で、いくつかの炎症関連指標が高値をとる傾向がみられた。高エネルギー摂取が認知症発症に促進的に働く可能性が示された。
