Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study focuses on Kondo Gensui (1850-1922), who made a major contribution to the Meiji period, and examines his reception of Chinese books and publication of Wakokubon to clarify the reality of his reception of Chinese books and the significance of cultural exchange through Chinese books. Specifically, 1) By collecting and organizing related materials, we clarified the general situation of Kondo Gensui's reception of Chinese classics and publication of Wakokubon. 2) By examining the aspects of Kondo Gensui's reception of Chinese books and analyzing the Chinese books to which he added notes and reviews, the significance of his work in the history of cultural exchange was elucidated. 3)The significance of his work in the history of cultural exchange between China and Japan is also discussed.
