Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study examined oral and gut microbiota to verify the translocation of oral bacteria to the gut. The oral bacteria was extensively identified in the gut microbiota of community-dwelling adults and their total relative abundance was higher in older subjects or those with dental plaque accumulation. The enrichment of oral bacteria in the gut was associated with a decrease in beneficial and an increase in pathogenic bacteria.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
