Summary of the Research Project

電子伝導性と触媒性を有する鉱物のバリアで2つの開放溶液を適切に分離した、熱水噴出孔を模倣した全く新しいリアクターを用いて、有機物の持続的生産と化学エネルギー変換を実証的に検証し、原始地球や熱水系を持つ他の水惑星における、熱水のpH勾配に駆動された生命の起源を考察しようという研究である。

Scientific Significance and Expected Research Achievements

天然の熱水噴出孔におけるpH勾配をフローリアクター内に正しく再現し、pH勾配が二酸化炭素の還元、アミノ酸やリン酸の生成、エステルの生成を駆動することを世界で初めて実証することを試みる。これまで知られていなかった代謝の形成につながるエネルギー変換の仕組みを実証し、生命の起源分野に大きな変革をもたらすことが期待できる。
