Outline of Final Research Achievements

To elucidate the adaptive regulatory mechanism of tissue elastoplasticity and the role of internal structural fluctuations in organogenesis, we have worked on multi-scale mathematical modeling to analyze the three-dimensional dynamics of cells from the cytoskeleton. In particular, in order to analyze long-term multicellular dynamics, we have developed a mathematical model of non-conservative fluid membranes to describe the non-equilibrium dynamics of cell membranes composed of lipids, cytoskeleton, and related molecules. Numerical simulations using this mathematical model enables us to predict the active three-dimensional mechanical dynamics of multicellular systems.
