Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は,我々が世界で初めて単離生成を実現した新規二次元物質である硫化ホウ素シートを基軸に用い,新しい触媒材料群を創出することです。硫化ホウ素シートは二硫化モリブデンのモリブデン原子を二つのホウ素原子で置換した結晶構造を持つ二次元物質です。本年度の研究により、硫化ホウ素シートが積層した菱面体硫化ホウ素をグラフェン粉末と1:2の質量比で混合すると、アルカリ中での酸素生成反応に対する電極触媒活性が市販のRuO2よりも高い性能を示すことを見出しました。耐久性や繰り返し特性も優れており、X線回折、ラマン散乱分光、X線光電子分光、走査電子顕微鏡観察などから、使用前後で組成や構造に大きな変化が無いこともわかりました。一方で100時間などの長時間使用をすると生成酸素ガスの吹き出しなどの影響と思われる電極からの触媒剥離が起こり、性能が劣化することもわかりました。これを防ぐためにニッケルフォームを用いて触媒を担持したところ100時間でも性能が劣化せず高い触媒性能が維持されることがわかりました。さらに東工大の宮内研究室との共同研究で菱面体硫化ホウ素が様々な優れた光触媒としての機能を有していることが示されました。来年度はこれらの本年度見出した新しい優れた触媒特性に着目し、触媒活性を決める部位や触媒反応メカニズムを明らかにし、更なる性能向上への材料設計指針とすることで本研究で見出した新しい触媒材料の性能をさらに向上させてまいります。

Reason

硫化ホウ素シートが積層した菱面体硫化ホウ素をグラフェン粉末と1:2の質量比で混合すると、アルカリ中での酸素生成反応に対する電極触媒活性が市販のRuO2よりも高い性能を示すことを見出し、ニッケルフォームを用いて触媒を担持したところ100時間でも性能が劣化せず高い触媒性能が維持されることがわかりました。さらに東工大の宮内研究室との共同研究で菱面体硫化ホウ素が様々な優れた光触媒としての機能を有していることも示されました。以上より研究はおおむね順調に進展しているといえます。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

本年度見出した新しい優れた触媒特性に着目し、触媒活性を決める部位や触媒反応メカニズムを明らかにし、更なる性能向上への材料設計指針とすることで本研究で見出した新しい触媒材料の性能をさらに向上させてまいります。
