Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
During this FY, we completed the project of building indigo red-light photoswitches by copper-catalyzed N-arylation. Computation and experimental studies suggest that the exclusive selectivity for mono-N-arylation originates from a bimetallic Cu-indigo intermediate. Furthermore, we developed a workflow for correlating the structures of N-aryl substituents with the thermal half-lives of indigo photoswitches through multivariate linear regression. Finally, preliminary studies with a new molecular design have allowed to conjugate biomolecules with indigos, which showed red-light induced photoswitching. This work has been submitted for publication and is currently under review.
