Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The purpose of the study is to develop and to validate a pre-service English language teachers' grit (PET-Grit) scale and to find out the relationship between PET-Grit and other non-cognitive variables. The study is set in Indonesia. In 2022, the development and validation of the scale was completed. The result indicated that the newly-developed PET-Grit scale has acceptable fit indices and is valid to be used for similar context of pre-service EFL teacher training. A research report of this first part of the study has been submitted for a publication and presented in an international conference. Additionally, the data collection of the second part of the study, a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM)study on the relationship of PET-Grit and other variables, has been completed. A total of 210 pre-service teachers' took part in the study. A manuscript is currently being written to be submitted for a publication.

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Due to COVID-19 situation which affects the dynamically of students' in-class attendance, the data collection was done online. As a consequence, it took more time to collect all data. The plan was to complete the data collection in February, but since it took more time to gather enough data, the data collection was completed in March. By the end of 2022 fiscal year, all data has been completed but the research report/manuscript is not yet finished.
