南極寒冷圏変動史の解読：第四紀の全球気候システムにおける南大洋の役割を評価する

Research Abstract

１．南大洋インド洋区のデルカノライスから採取された海洋コア（DCR-1PC）から底生有孔虫を抽出し，酸素同位体層序を構築するとともに，浮遊性有孔虫の14C年代測定を行い，コアの年代モデルを構築した。得られた底生有孔虫の酸素同位体比の変動パターンは，昨年度実施済みである浮遊性有孔虫の酸素同位体比変化とは一部異なり，浮遊性有孔虫の酸素同位体層序に基づいていたこれまでの年代モデルが大きく改善された。その結果，最終氷期最寒期（LGM）と酸素同位体ステージ（MIS）４の亜氷期には，浮遊性有孔虫の酸素同位体比が有意に小さい値にシフトしていたことが明らかとなった。このことは，氷期の南大洋インド洋区の表層水がより低塩分化していた可能性を示唆しており，今後，他のプロキシを用いた検証が待たれる。
２．コンラッドライズの海洋コア（COR-1bPC）について，各種の古環境指標（プロキシ）の分析を行い，南大洋インド洋区における表層環境変動の復元を行った。漂流岩屑（IRD）および珪藻群集解析の結果，最終氷期には冬季の海氷北限が数千年スケールの周期で南北振動していたことが明らかとなった。特に，IRDの増加イベントは，北部北大西洋で顕著に見られるハインリッヒイベントのタイミングとは必ずしも一致していなかった。
３．DCR-1PCおよびCOR-1bPCの主要元素（窒素・炭素・硫黄）とバイオマーカーを分析し，約４万年前以降の古環境変動を復元した。その結果，２地点ともに氷期に有機炭素量と全硫黄量が増加すること，また，貧酸素環境を示唆するバイオマーカーであるスクアランの濃度も氷期に増加することが見いだされた。また，陸源高等植物由来の代表的バイオマーカーである長鎖アルカンのフラックスを復元し，最終氷期には南米起源のダスト供給量が有意に増加していたことを明らかにした。
