Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this project, we qualitatively evaluated the educational curriculums of institutions in Japan that offer Russian language programs, clarified various issues, and compared the institutions in terms of the level of the students' language skill development. We also conducted a questionnaire survey of 1,114 students who were learning Russian at high schools and universities. Quantitative and qualitative analyses were conducted to reveal the correlation between learners’ motivation and learning environment. We presented the survey result in Japan and overseas, explained the trends found among Russian language learners, and proposed the ideal direction of Russian language education.
In addition, we developed a website (Information for Russian Language Learning and on Employment Opportunities) that provides teaching staff of various institutions with information on curriculum teaching material development, teaching methods, evaluation systems, and employment opportunities.
