Research Abstract |
In this study, I analyzed the educational thought in Kaitokudo School. To be exact, I analyzed the aspect that the study of Confucianism thought as the philosophy of Kaitokudo School reflects the education thought as part of the administration thought to be related to real world, and I proved that Kaitokudo Confucians basically regard both morality and politics as important. Particularly, I made clear that Kaitokudo Confucians thought about the relation between morals and politics is not the course from "discipline myself" toward "rule persons" but the unification of both of them (this unification is based on high level "self" provided by sublating both of them). On Confucianism thought history of Japanese early modern times, the historical significance of Kaitokudo School is that they brought up the concept of high level "self".
