Research Abstract |
This study was aimed at the development of effective and safe psychological technique for sleep improvement by focusing on the breathing pattern. The results showed as follows. (1) In sleep stage 1 and 2, the time of expiratory is shorter than the time of inspiratory. (2) Breathing adjustments based on the breathing pattern in sleep stage 1 and 2 can elicit sleepiness. And it can also reduce sleep latency time. (3) The breathing adjustments can be applied safely for people with psychiatric disorders.
